Buttock augmentation is used to improve the contour, size and/or shape of the buttocks. This is achieved through the use of buttock implants, fat injection (“lipofilling”) or sometimes a combination of the two.

Depending on your wishes and body type, Dr. Abdelaali will recommend the best treatment for you, explaining how the procedure will be carried out and the precautions to be taken to avoid complications as far as possible.

Buttock lipofilling

Buttock lipofilling consists in increasing the volume of the buttocks by injecting one’s own fat. This lipofilling technique is 100% natural and involves no foreign bodies.

INDICATIONS FOR BUTTOCK LIPOFILLING

Buttock lipofilling is intended for men and women who wish to :

  • Increase buttock volume.
  • Enhance buttock shape.
  • Firm sagging buttocks.

Of course, you need to have sufficient fat reserves. Very slim people will be better advised to undergo buttock implant augmentation.

THE INTERVENTION PROCESS

Buttock lipofilling is performed under general anesthesia and lasts between one and three hours. The patient usually spends one night in the clinic.

For the buttocks, the surgeon needs a significant amount of fat. He systematically begins by liposuctioning the hips and saddlebags, since slimming the figure in these precise areas will enable him to reshape the fall of the kidneys and the shape of the buttocks before injecting the fat. If required, fat can also be suctioned from the stomach or any other area where there is excess fat.

The fat is then centrifuged and evenly distributed in the upper buttocks using fine cannulas. The volume of a buttock augmentation by fat injection.

The benefits of buttock lipostructure:

  • Fat is an autologous, 100% natural product. There is therefore no risk of allergy or rejection.
  • There are no scars, just fine, almost invisible incisions of less than a millimeter.

At the end of the procedure, the surgeon closes the incisions with absorbable thread.

Buttock lipofilling can be combined with a buttock implant. The fat separates the implant from the skin, giving a more natural appearance and smoothing out the orange-peel skin.

THE FOLLOW-UP

There is some swelling and bruising, which resolves in a few weeks. It is advisable to sleep on the stomach for three weeks, and as far as possible to sit on the lower part of the buttocks. For sports, you need to wait at least 1 month.

THE RESULTS

The results of buttock lipofilling are visible immediately, but will be permanent after three to six months. The buttocks are rounded, firmer and better shaped. It is quite normal for them to lose up to 30% of their volume in the weeks following the procedure. For this reason, a second operation at six-month intervals is common. Once the fat graft has set, it is permanent. Fat cells are living tissue. If weight is gained or lost, the buttocks will also increase or decrease in volume.

Buttock prosthesis

THE INTERVENTION PROCESS

Buttock surgery is performed under general anesthesia with one to two nights’ hospitalization, and lasts about an hour.

The implants are filled with a cohesive silicone gel that makes them extremely resistant. The surgeon chooses the size and shape of the prosthesis, taking into account the original appearance of the patient’s buttocks. Prosthesis  come in all shapes, round, oval, biconvex or oblong, and in all sizes, with an average volume ranging from 250 to 350 cubic centimetres.

The surgeon makes a six-centimeter incision vertically in the buttock crease. The scar is therefore completely invisible. He then inserts the prosthesis into a pocket created by detaching the gluteus maximus muscle, located in the upper half of the buttocks. Next, he sutures the deep layers and the skin with absorbable sutures. Finally, he applies a shaping dressing with elastic bands.

AFTER THE OPERATION

There is varying degrees of pain for eight to ten days. The surgeon lifts the gluteus maximus muscle to insert the prosthesis, and it is this manipulation that causes the pain after gluteal implant surgery. There is also some swelling and bruising for around ten days. Normal activity is resumed after about a month.

Particular attention is paid to pain management. In the recovery room, when the patient is released from anaesthesia, painkillers of varying potencies are administered by vein. Once the patient is back in the room, the nursing staff regularly assess the severity of the pain, and decide whether or not to increase the dose of painkillers. The patient also spends two nights in the clinic to ensure the best possible follow-up during the first few days, which are generally the most painful.

When you return home, you should avoid putting any pressure on your buttocks for six weeks. In particular, it is not advisable to sleep on the back, bend over or lift objects. The patient should preferably sit upright. It’s also a good idea to arrange home help for daily activities such as running errands, climbing stairs, washing, etc.

Once this delicate stage is over, the patient is very happy with the result and quickly forgets the discomfort of the first few days.

RESULTS: BUTTOCK AUGMENTATION

It is visible immediately, but becomes permanent after 2 to 3 months, as the buttocks soften and the prosthesis stabilize. Buttock sensitivity is preserved. Implants can be worn for life.

Hip liposuction is most often combined with a buttock implant to enhance the curvature obtained.

Buttock lift: To achieve a smoother, more pleasing contour, excess flabby skin and fat are removed. A traditional buttock muscle lift can improve an irregular, dimpled skin surface. This procedure can be included in a body lift or performed separately. This procedure does not increase the volume of the buttocks, but combats sagging buttocks.
